Job postings to developing countries

Capacity-building in developing countries

ICCO focuses on building the capacity of local organisations in developing countries. To this end, ICCO deploys experts for shorter or longer periods of time. ICCO also funds programmes aimed at the development of human resources in local organisations and strengthening of their networks. Postings are authorised at the request of local development organisations.

Method

 

As part of its capacity-building programmes, ICCO is posting experts with the appropriate expertise and experience to developing countries. Annually this adds up to about 150 people in developing countries and several dozens of organisations receiving financial support.

 

Our partners in capacity-building

ICCO focuses on organisations in developing countries that contribute directly to the alleviation of poverty. Organisations that stand up for the rights of marginalised groups and contribute to the strengthening of civil society.

 

Partners in developing countries ask ICCO for support for their institutional and human resources development. ICCO cooperates with local private organisations - both religious and non-religious  - and local governments. We are active in Africa, Latin America, Asia, the Middle East and Eastern Europe. 

 

In the Netherlands, ICCO collaborates with organisations which are also working on building capacity of organisations in developing countries. These partners either boast their own specific expertise, or they are part of specialised networks, such as church-related development organisations, universities, the business community or local governments.

  

ICCO also offers these organisations support in advancing collaboration in the field of human resources by implementing collaborative human resource programmes and, on occasion, providing funding for programmes of this kind.

 

Different approaches

Collaborations in the field of human resources can take a number of forms. In addition to multi-annual deployment, there are options for short-term expert missions, flexible job postings, junior deployment and exchanges.

ICCO makes a significant contribution to the development of the Association for Staff Cooperation with Developing Countries (PSO).
